Jon York
Jon York was born November 20, 1970 in Spartanburg, SC. His love for music began at an early age. He was always playing air guitar as a youngster until his parents finally gave in and bought his first guitar when Jon was 12.
With the exception of a few lessons York is primarily self-taught. His influences include Mick Mars, Eddie Van Halen, Jake E. Lee, just to name a few.
York moved to Southern California at the age of 20, aspiring to fulfill his dream of becoming a rock star. After a couple of years, he decided it was time to pack it up and move back home. Once back home, he got together with some guys and started a band called Cast Of Nasties. After a few changes in the lineup the band evolved into 11th Commandment.
In 1995 York decided it was time to hang it up due to family obligations . In 2008, he received a call from Scott Gregory about possibly reuniting everyone to write some songs, but this time it would be different. This time it was not about the fortune and fame. This time it was about praising God and spreading His word and good news to everyone that will listen. This time it was about feeling and hearing...Heavens Thunder. |
